Excel 1.0 - save time when working with large worksheets by turning off Automatic Calculation.  Choose Calculate from the Options menu and click on the Manual option when the dialog box comes up.  When you want to calculate hit COMMAND-= (COMMAND and the equal sign held down at the same time).
